I Didn't Start Out As a Believer.
Faith Corner (Why This Corner Exists)
-Written By Steve Cook
When I started investing in real estate in 1998, I didn't believe in God.
At the time, I was broke, in debt, and trying to rebuild my life after a failed business. Real estate gave me a fresh start. The business began to grow, my income improved, and life was finally heading in the direction I had hoped for.
Then, on January 25, 2000, everything changed.
I gave my life to Jesus Christ.
The business didn't stop, but the way I viewed it changed completely. Success looked different. Money looked different. Purpose looked different. What started as a pursuit of financial freedom became part of a much bigger story.
As my success grew, I found myself wrestling with questions I never expected to ask. Why had I been given these opportunities? What was I supposed to do with them? How should I use the platform that was growing around me?
Those questions led me down a path that continues to shape my life today.
"He flipped my world upside down. No pun intended."
That's why this corner exists.
It's simply a place where I can share that part of my journey, the lessons I've learned, and the faith that has become the foundation beneath everything else I do.
Why This Corner Exists
The original FlippingHomes.com had a Faith Corner long before social media existed.
Some people thought it was a bad idea. They worried it would hurt the business or drive people away. I understood their concerns, but I never felt led to remove it.
"I was more concerned about pleasing God than pleasing man. So it stayed."
As FlippingHomes grew, so did my conviction that this belonged here.
This isn't a marketing strategy. It's not an attempt to convince anyone of anything. It's simply part of my story, and it has been from the beginning.
So as FlippingHomes is rebuilt, the Faith Corner remains right where it belongs.
Wherever You Are, You're Welcome Here
You don't have to believe what I believe to be here.
If you've followed Jesus for years, you're welcome. If you're carrying questions, doubts, frustrations, or curiosity, you're welcome too.
I didn't come to faith early. I didn't grow up with all the answers. My journey started in the middle of building a business and trying to figure out life. That's why I have no interest in talking down to people or pretending I've got everything figured out.
"I'm still on the journey myself, and genuinely excited about where God is leading me."
If something on this page sparks a question, encourages you, or simply gives you something to think about, then it has served its purpose.
If you have a question, a memory, a curiosity you haven't known what to do with — that's worth paying attention to.
I don't have all the answers. I will tell you that plainly. But I have walked this road long enough to know that the questions themselves matter and that the people who keep asking them tend to end up somewhere worth going.
The community is a good place to continue the conversation. Bring whatever you're carrying. You'll find people there who understand more than you might expect.
